The Good
So... bottom line up front (BLUF) I love this game. I'm honest but I may be a little biased. For me, It's the best of both worlds; action and RPG. The graphics are great, there's plenty of action and the story is decent. There 's plenty of dialogue and the voice acting is done well. You can play through the story mode or you can hop into a timed survivor match of which you can customize.
Because there's an open map that you're dropped into the middle of, there's plenty of room for strategy and especially once you get the hang of the many mechanics of the game. Because of the base building and research to grow your arsenal and equipment, the replay value keeps giving. And the customizable sandbox mode helps with it's replayability too.
Long games or quick matches. Check! DLC and now mod support. Check! Many customizable options and difficulty options. Check. New DLC coming in 2023. Check! I could go on but you get the point.
The Bad
It's been a few years since the game first came out but the bad were all of the glitches on the PC version; specifically the Steam version. But the game has come a long way. And with one DLC under it's belt and another on the way, many of the bugs have been ironed out.
Oh, if you play on a PC with a controller like me you may run into a jittery response when building with the mecha-suit, though. It's been this way for so long that I just accept it but some people may not be able to get passed it.
Update (5/2/23)
It's been a few about a year but it's finally here! The "Into The Dark" DLC release date has just been announced on Steam to be May 29, 2023. I've been waiting on this DLC for what seems to be way too long. I love this game so to say that I'm a little excited would be an understatement.
You can expect more of the same but with added functionality and an expanded story. This expansion takes you underground into the Crystal caves where you experience new enemies, creatures and vegetation. There's also new technology that requires more research so you can access new weapons.
You can get your hands on this latest DLC om May 29th for $9.99.
STAY TUNED!!!
